Sikkens launches high end woodcare book for specifiers
Premium woodcare brand, Sikkens, is offering even more support to its customers with the launch of its new "Finished by Sikkens" book. The high end guide demonstrates how the natural beauty of a selection of key wood substrates used in construction, can be enhanced through the use of high quality woodstains.
The glossy, hard back book also contains practical advice and ideas to help specifiers make easy yet informed decisions when it comes to selecting which translucent colours complement specific types of timber.
Within the new guide, professionals will find details and images of 12 of the most commonly used timbers in construction, and how they can be enhanced through the application of the Sikkens range of premium coatings.
"There are many variables which can affect a final colour choice, so selecting the right colour of translucent woodstain can often be a challenge. The fact that different types of timber can be suited to different woodstain shades, must be considered at specification stage in order to ensure the desired finish. This guide aims to assist specifiers with this decision," said Richard Bradley, Trade Marketing Manager, Woodcare, at ICI Paints AkzoNobel.
"For example, darker woods such as Teak or Sepele, or those with a pronounced grain figure such as Oak, have a natural intensity of colour that can be enriched through the use of lighter stains.
"With this in mind, the innovative book recommends five carefully chosen colours that complement each type of timber, to demonstrate how coloured woodstains can deliver outstanding results and enhance the natural beauty of wood."
The informative resource also includes an overview of the type of construction that these woods are considered for, and so is the perfect support to specifiers in making the right woodcare choice.
